How to use Active Vision Compression Connectors and Tools
How to Prepare an RG59U Coaxial Cable:
To properly prepare an RG59U Coaxial cable for compression connectors, you must make two cuts. The first cut is made 1/2" from the end of the cable, removing both the outer insulation, and the copper braided shield. The second cut must be made 1/4" from the end of the cable, exposing 1/4" of the copper conductor. Make sure the center conductor is not bent when inserting the wire into the compression connector, as this will cause a short to ground inside the connector.
Compression Tool Setup
How to Prepare a Compression Tool:
To properly prepare the compression tool, you must first select the proper head. In this guide we will be setting the tool up for RG59U BNC Compression Connectors.
Screw the appropriate head into the adjustable pedestal on the tool; you may have to remove a connector head to attach the appropriate one.
Now, Adjust the height of the connector head by loosening the locking nut at the botton of the pedestal, and twisting the pedestal until there is 1/8" of thread between the bottom of the pedestal and the top of the locking screw.
With the connector properly inserted in the tool, you should have 1/4" of space between the butt of the connector and the bottom of the wire retainer.
